Intumescent Painting

Intumescent paints function by undergoing a chemical reaction when exposed to heat, forming a thick, insulating layer that protects the underlying steel. In the event of a fire, the heat causes the paint to expand up to 50 times its original thickness, to form a stable, carbonaceous char.  This insulating layer helps keep the steel at a safe temperature, preventing it from reaching the critical point where its structural integrity would be compromised. This process provides essential fire resistance, ensuring the steel maintains its strength and stability during a fire.
